My recently delivered R29 does not seem to have backlighting on the power panel labels. When I searched the Blue Sea website I found lighting kits, but then it says they are standard with power panels.

Should I expect my power panel to be backlit?

Thanks,

Many things like this don't light up unless the ignition is on and the nav lights are on as well. Of course, if it's dark, you can't see to either find the ignition switch or the nav light switch...

Bet Andrew or the factory will chime in shortly, as will other 29 owners.

The ignition does not need to be on. If you turn on your nav lights then the panel lights up. If you run just the anchor light the panel will be dark. If you need to see the panel while at anchor you just turn on a interior light right there at the panel. In time you will get to know which switch for which light by feel. You just start at the top left and go down. We also keep a flashlight right above the panel on that teak ledge. This is for when I get up to check the anchor and anything else that needs checking in the middle of the night.
Hope this helps,

Thank you Stuart. That is correct. Nav lights must be in the up position to have backlighting on the switch panel.

Excellent answers. Thank you all.
