I have a 2018 R29 Sedan and can't figure out how to open the aft cockpit hatches more than 2 inches without hitting the railings that support the solar panel. I can't believe this was as designed.

Ranger Tugs - help me understand what I am doing wrong!

You are not doing anything wrong. If they had thought about it they could have saved some production time and cost by leaving those hatches off the aft cockpit roof. The frame on one of mine (a 2021 boat) is cracked and needs to be replaced so I would much rather have had them omitted from the design and production. I am not sure why you need a hatch opening over the cockpit. Pretty easy to just take down a sunbrella panel when I want more ventilation back there.

Thanks for the reply!

I was hoping that the Ranger Factory would provide some insight on the design. It just doesn't make sense to me.

On my 2018 R29s, I agree, the hatches are not practical. But I also notices that when the door is opened, if the hatch wasn't there, the corner of the door would probably hit the hardtop that sticks out.....the hatch seems to provide just enough relief to allow the door to open....... I think the hatch installation is easier than a hardtop redesign and since the door is offset, 2 hatches are more aesthetic.

Just my thoughts.
