We have a leak above the shower mixing valve and it is difficult to reach the hot water elbow and cold water connection to tighten them - is there a recommended tool or is the solution to cut the wall open wider so we can stop the leak? Should we replace the connections with another material fitting? Are there any other considerations?
Thank you!

Hi
Is your's a classic or a new R29 ?

If you don’t get an answer from someone with first hand experience I’d suggest calling the customer service guys at Ranger Tugs to ask your question.

A basin wrench may give you better reach. Available at most hardware stores.

kjtaylor499,

Assuming your R29 is a classic model, then try this:

"...on my R31S access to the shower mixing valve is forward of the forward panel in the mid-berth (aka the "Cave"). However, you might get any plastic cuttings (or other debris) out of the valve by accessing the mixing valve from the shower. Use an allen wrench to remove the set screw for the shower valve handle. Then, the valve cartridge can be screwed out from inside the shower. If you get it out, then try cleaning it up."

If that doesn't work then see this link for my description of how to access the shower mixing valve and water connections from the mid-berth:

Thank you for all the helpful responses.

It's a 2016 R29S; leak appears to be right above the mixing valve, really difficult access through the shower valve. I've got it tightened and fingers crossed that was the problem.

Will call customer service to get their suggestions as well.

Thanks!

Mine leaked there too. Many do. The fittings crack. There are better fittings now. Replace them both if this is your also your issue. My access was also through the cave. Remove the mouse fur panels and they are nicely exposed.
