We are about to take delivery of our new R29S!!!
I have seen the installed swim ladder on the side of the swim step and I am curious if that ladder and the swim step arrangement are adequate for cold water (dry suit and lots of weight) scuba diving.

It looks like the ladder may be a little wimpy, and entering up the side there may not be good hand holds as you climb out of the water...weighing 100lbs more than typical.

Does anyone have any first hand advice??

Thanks!!

Rocky

The ladder on our 31 handles my 260 pounds on dry land.

I had the same concern when I bought our 25SC at last year's Seattle Boat Show. Andrew and I jumped up and down on the bottom step of mine at the show. Convinced me.

Thanks.... I can picture Andrew jumping up and down.... 🙂

Hi Rocky,

I have the 2017 R29 CB and have used it for diving off California with a 7 mm wetsuit with tanks and weights. The ladder works great!

If you're looking for a tank holder check out http://ogremaxxraxx.com/. I have the 6-pack. It's really handy and fits in well in the cockpit while allowing access to hatches. I've had up to 4 divers (which is comfortable) so if I need a couple more tanks I just lay them in front.

The R29 is great for diving!

Hi Rocky,
I also have a R29, if the R29s has the same swim platform rails and ladder they will be adequate for a diver but lack of hand holds on the stern may be a problem. A short rope tied to the stern rail may help.
Dave.
