Hello. I have a Ranger Tug 29 S (the "new" one). I have a problem with the fuel indicator.
My Garmin calculates fuel level based on the flow while the Penta gauge gets the fuel level from a swimmer in the tank. The Penta fuel gauge stays always at the same value, i.e. the fuel tank sensor may be stuck somewhere. Just relying on the Garmin information, which is calculated on flow, is not enough for me. Is there a user manual where I can see the location and shape of the tank, how to approach it and how to loosen the probably stuck sensor?

It is my understanding that the gauge needs to be calibrated. Was this initially done? Also, you seem to be reluctant to rely on the Garmin fuel display. This is quite accurate as long as you set the fuel level correctly each time you get fuel. It is way more reliable than a fuel tank gauge.

Hello Manfred,

Mike is absolutely correct. Not sure if you had any engine updates added from Volvo but when this is done it can wipe out the calibration. We program them from the factory but have seen it go away before. The calibration is actually pretty simple and can be done right at your display. The sender needs to be removed from the tank with the 6 or so screws holding it in. Then you turn the volvo display and enter the empty/full tank calibration menu. Basically, you tell it when the sender reads empty and tell it when its full. The sender is located under the rear cabin access hatch on the floor and quite easy to get too. If you want to attempt the calibration, feel free to call us at the office and we can walk you through it.

Thank you,
