We are looking to expand the cooking options by adding a grill on our 2020 R29S. I'd like to see how you've accommodated the tender and tender motor along with the grill and mount. We are looking for goods and others with your setups.

Thanks in advance....

i went through a lot of options on this. mostly focused on the rails on the stern swim step and fitting the BBQ inside the dingy on the rail. in the end I opted to move the BBQ to the starboard rail in the cockpit because the rail is much shorter and much more sturdy. as a result the rail doesnt waggle under strain.

The BBQ therefore slightly overhangs the starboard gunwhale but avoids spray, doesnt get in the way of the cockpit seats and is easy to use.

Gavin, doesn’t the grill interfere with boarding the boat on the starboard side via the swim platform, or does it mount on he starboard railing near the stern and therefore hangs a bit over the side?

I have it quite far forward on my boat near the outside driving console.

Magma brand....? And which mount ?? Newport II Infrared....?? Are you happy with your mounting system and grill ??

We have an R31 but it's similar. Mounted the round Magma classic on the port side with a Magma brand rod holder mount. It hangs a bit over the gunnel so grease and drips stay out of the cockpit and off the swim grid. You do have to be a bit careful attaching the propane so as not to drop it in the water. Overall works pretty good for basic grilling, but I won't be cooking a brisket on it. I think the Magma and accessories are terribly overpriced, but have not found anything that works as well on the boat.

As a rail mount seemed to be in the way of something, no matter where it could be mounted we chose at different option. We store ours in the port cockpit locker n bring it out when it’s time to use. If at anchor I’ll set it on the swim platform to use. If in a marina I’ll do the same or take it ashore, depends on the marina rules where we are docked. This might not work for everyone but it’s another idea.

i have the 9x18 rectangular

importantly i mounted these mounts to get it hang over the side. any drips go into the water.

this mount makes it impossible to easily/quickly use the unit free standing. but it stays on the rail the whole time witha cover on. no issues with docking, seating, cooking, cruising in this location. I take the drip tray and gas bottle off when not using.

Thanks guys!!!
