Hi There -

I'm trying to find the raw water pump for my Air Conditioning system. I turn the unit on and I do not get water flow - then the system shuts down with a high pressure warning. I think the pump is not priming or the seacock is closed, but I just can't find the pump.

Help 🙂

The seacock should be in the engine compartment on port side. Follow the hose. There should be a strainer. Get another person, close the sea cock. Get garden hose, open the strainer, turn on hose and shoot water into strainer area, have other person turn on a/c. Water should start coming out a/c discharge. Have helper shut off a/c. Stop water, quickly screw strainer cap on. Open sea cock and start a/c again. Water should be coming out of a/c discharge. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! I'll give that a try!

If what Mike describes does not work you may need to turn the seacock into the close position. Once that is done unscrew the incoming and outgoing hoses from the sea strainer and unscrew the sea strainer from its base. Once the sea strainer is free you can inspect the incoming sea strainer hose to see if it is clogged. Clean that hose out then temporarily open the thru hull lever to see if water flows freely and close to reassemble. On our R27 there are flow arrows marked on the strainer to help make sure one puts the hoses back on in the correct way. Let us know what you find.

Our AC pump lost prime. Just remove output side hose, run until water comes out shove hose on and clamp. All OK since - think a plastic bag got on intake, but washed off. No problems since. Planning to "T" a hose fitting to fresh water flush, or reprime on input side, it might lso backlash strainer to clean it.

Tugnuts Friends,

Thanks so much! That was indeed the problem. The A/C is humming 🙂
