R31 Dorade Vent Cowl

Does anyone know if you can fix the dorade vent that is in the berth? The little plastic clip doesn't seem to want to stay pushed up and the spring always snaps it back down.

I hope the whole thing doesn't need to be replaced, meaning opening up the deck and requiring it to be resealed. However, if that is the case, has anyone replaced theirs with one of the tiny solar panel ones with a fan?

I am also getting leakage through the dorade vent into the v-berth on my R31. We've temporarily solved the problem with a plastic bag topside over the cowling -- not a very elegant solution. I guess I'm repeating watson1987's question. Has anybody found a fix that does not require major surgery?
