Radar dome folded down

I have, on occasion, lowered my mast and then cruised to the location where I was going to pull the boat onto the trailer. I put on the plot charter to get my depths as I return. As I was doing it the other day a fellow boater asked if it was good for the radar dome to be spinning while not verticle. It never dawned on me that this may be a problem.
Any comments?

Re your Radar spinning qz: I recently purchased a 2012 Ranger 27 and her maiden voyage (290 miles) was 10 days ago. I had a similar thought AFTER lowering my RADAR for a low bridge - forgot to turn in off hence it was 'spinning' about 45 minutes. Seemed to work OK after raising. I'm not an expert on GARMIN radars, but assume it's OK since I have found no warnings listed in the manual.
I would however recommend that it is in standby mode since the person lowering/raising active RADAR could be subjected to higher radiation blast.

I thought, but perhaps I am wrong, that the radar is spinning even in standby mode. When I turn the chartplotter on I hear the radar dome spin. Garmin will be at the Mystic, CT rendezvous on Friday. I will ask them what their thoughts are on it.
I hope no one was in the V-berth when the radar was on and tilted. You may not need lights in there for a while since they will glow in the dark. 🙂

The RADAR will spin for a short time at power-up then it stops. It will not spin until you select Transmit RADAR. It will stop when you go back to standby.
