Folks:

I have a 2016 R21 EC that I would like to mount a Garmin [dome style] radar on the existing mast. For those of you who have done this install, were you able to pull the power and data cables through an existing chase or did you have to drill new hole to run the cables? My boat does have the folding mast, gps antenna and searchlight setup if that helps. I am not at the boat and my install tech has asked the question about running the cables in advance of the work, so I thought I would ask the community what others have done.

Thanks - Tom

Tom, I ran the cables through the starboard side of the smoke stack (using a clam shell) from there I used the existing run for the other wires. The power cable was run down the stripper pole under the deck and to the power distribution under the helm. The other cables were run forward above the headliner behind the forward wood trim and down the window frame to the back of the GPS unit.
The one thing to check is that your pole to support your mast when it's down will clear the radar!
I had to make a spacer so all would work as planned. If you have any questions or need pictures just text me and I will try to help. Bob

Thank you Bob...that is just what I needed to know! This is the last project before Winter sets in here in the mid-Atlantic.

for mine i went with a new hole next to the plug for the anchor/spotlight wires. Used this with some extra sealer for waterproofing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N ... UTF8&psc=1

I want to be able to take the mast off now for traveling long distances and not have the strain of the radar and spotlight (moved to above the radar from the factory spot).

I ordered these two connectors to make a break in the ethernet and power cables so I can disconnect them. I haven't gotten around to installing them yet though, just need it to get warm enough again to want to be outside installing them plus the solar panel install.

yeah i know i don't need the 4 pin plug for power to the radar but it looked like a nice sturdy connector that should hold up for a while. They also both came with caps to install when the mast is unplugged.
