rain water in rear locker R21 ec

I have a problem with water in the rear locker on my RT21EC. Has anyone tried to seal with a gasket material?
 
What are the circumstances you are experiencing to get water in the stern compartments. I don't have any gaskets on the covers but I do have a bimini top that covers these compartments except in the most severe rain. I don't leave items in these compartments that can be damaged by water when I'm not on the boat.

I have a surrey top that covers all the way back to the stern. it also has the A/C option with the two batteries on a tray in the rear port corner of the compartment. It gets rain water in the tray also.
 
Do you have side and stern panels that cover from top to the hull sides ? If not, then surely slanting rain/wind can cause water to get into that stern locker.
 
Water will leak in through the hinges. When on the trailer I cover the rear lid hinges with an old floor mat. When in the water my canvas top protects this area.
