Our fuel gauge does not work. We would like to have a mechanic check the sensor. However we cannot find any hatch to access the fuel tank. Where is it? If we have to have a mechanic cut a hole to access the sensor, where would he cut the hole????

Mike, check the Forum index and open Ranger Factory Technical Bulletins. Scroll through and you will find the fuel tank drawings which shows the location of sending unit, and distance back from leading edge under the interior cabin step. Without measuring it appears to be in a not very user friendly location for cutting an access panel.

No fuel tank access hatch on an 2007 R25. You will need to cut a hole. Call Ranger, they can helpp.

I have seen this fuel gauge problem before. My question is why do you need it when the computer on your engine gives you much better data than a mechanical fuel gauge (also they are the first thing to malfunction, then water gauge)? I would like to know in case I am missing some crucial piece of information as I travel offshore frequently on a near empty tank (sometimes) by the time I get back.

The 2008 and earlier R-25's do not have computer controlled engines. They are mechanically controlled, so there is no backup fuel gauge incorporated into the engine instruments.

I don't have much experience chasing down gauge problems, but because I have been chasing electrical issues more generally, I can say that I have read over and over how often gauge problems are related to grounding issues. Don't know if that is true in your case. But if you haven't troubleshot the ground to the gauge, you might want to try that. One resource I have found that seems helpful is http://boatwiringadvice.com. In the left side column, down low, is an index to posts. Select the index for grounding issues and you may find some that will be helpful for your issue.

Good luck.

Hello everyone,
I would like to know if there is a trap door that allows access to the fuel tank R25SC.
I want to empty the fuel and clean the tank.
Thank you to all those who respond.
