the Ranger Tug 31 is an outstanding design for a trailerable trawler. However, what I would like to see incorporated into the design would be an extended deckhouse model which would provide a little more cabin space.

The additional space could be increased by about two feet which would provide a separate shower Rather than a wet head which is being provided in the design of the new Cutwater 30. A hanging locker which you can actually hang something in would also be able to be provided in the modest increase in size.

An additional seat in the saloon area would also be a nice addition. I would also like to see an optional stainless steel frame over the cockpit area that can have a snap on cover which can be removed as weather dictates. The frame can also provide a base to mount dinghy chocks and the Pacer davit. By utilizing this system you will also have room for a solar panel.

This is not a criticism of the 31's design, but merely an additional thought.

That will make a really nice 34 foot boat.

Ranger makes a great product with great service, but like a mentor of mine once said as I was growing my business, “stick to knitting”. Ranger has a nice niche in the trailerable boat market, hopefully they see the value they bring to the market and don’t fall prey at trying to compete with the larger luxury boats and become one of a choice of many. Sometimes smaller is better.
