The depth sounder on our 2022 Ranger Tug 31S stopped working, and we couldn't find the transducer. We asked Tim Taylor, Service Manager, Pocket Yacht Company, in Chester, MD where it was located and here's what he told us:
" The transducers are under the fridg. You have to remove the fridge to gain access to it. It is possible that it is low on antifreeze . One thing you can check first is to put the Chart plotter on the sonar screen and then go to menu/options and look through the list until you find transducer and make sure it is still turned on. If that is on, then check the gain and set it too high. If not, I would set it to high and see if that helps . If that does not fix it, then you should proceed to the transducer."
Using his info, we solved the problem: We found the sonar menu and the transducer xmit was off. After turning it back on, we could get the depth, and didn’t need to adjust the gain. And we didn't have to access the transducer. But now we know where it is!
Thanks to Tim for giving us permission to post his response.
