Ranger Tugs and the Great Loop

Hello to all,
Has anyone done the Loop in a Ranger Tug, I would love to pick your Brain. I have been researching and reading but would love to get first hand info.

The AGLCA recently posted a stat of most popular boats to complete the Loop in 2021 and the Ranger Tug came in tied with the Nordic Tug at number three. So there are plenty of Ranger Tugs out there doing the Loop each year.

Below is copied from the post on The AGLCA forum. There is also a trailer Looper special interest group that started in 2021 AGLCA forum that some Ranger and Cutwater owners participate in.

As Brian has posted there were lots of Tugs on the loop in 2021, mine included. There were many more than the America's Great Loop Cruisers Association reported. At one stop there were 4 of us at the same time and a lot more ahead and behind us.

When doing the loop or any extended cruise don't go too far ahead in planning. There are many variable factors such as weather, mechanical issues and pleasant surprises. If you try to plan the whole trip it can be overwhelming. Plan a general route for the entire trip and then your starting point. From there I would do a little more detail for the following few weeks. As you travel you will see interesting things and will want to stop and stay a bit. You will talk to people at your stops and they will make suggestions as to what to see, where to stay and where to anchor. Smell the roses along the way. Do not rush your trip. Absorbing the local culture along the way can be very interesting.
