Considering the return hose from helm to the pump. What is the best mounting location for the pump itself?
Also there is not enough room for theP70Rs control head on the dash due to the extra room the CM ( Cummings Mercruiser) panel takes up

Just checking

Pictures of locations would be nice

Thanks

I stand corrected after getting the DSM 30 sounder module out of the way there was enough room for the control head for the auto pilot

Still would like to know where the best location for the pump and the heading sensor

Thanks BW

I have a 2008 R-25 Yanmar 100HP with a DSM30 installed. I installed a Raymarine S1000 Model E12169 autopilot a few years back. At first, I installed the pump behind the starboard V-birth bulkhead panel near the speaker in order to keep the return line short. Others have mounted it near and behind the 110V electric panel. I found that the pump was very noisy and distracting so I made the leap to install the pump aft at the rudder even though that required installing a long return hose from it to the helm. It was definitely worth it - I don't hear it at all now and therefore am not concerned with it overworking itself when controlling the course in moderate seas. The installation was not difficult in the world of Ranger Tugs - ie everything is difficult!

Thanks for the information did you mount the pump by the ram through the little access port or higher under the rear seat or the storage area by the water heater or engine compartment?

I mounted it on the small platform just forward of the rudder shaft, accessible through the access panel.

So I got the 20 ft Uflex brand hose on the way
When I get it all connected do yo have to crack any bleeders or just hang the bottle over the helm with the clear tube and just turn steering slowly over a period of days with the pin hole in the bottle until no bubbles?

My autopilot installation manual (not available at the moment) told me how to do it. There are bleeder screws on my pump that you loosen to bleed it but other than that, I cannot remember the procedure.
