I welcome good recommendations for folks in BC who have had good experiences with re-upholsterers (eg helm seat and navigator seat/dinette seat) in BC.

Thank you!

Just curious if you ever found a good shop. We are looking for someone as well on Southern Vancouver Island.- thanks.

I am very satisfied by the upholstery work I had done by Fawcett Boat Covers located in Parksville, 22-1499 Huntley Rd. Phone: 250 248 9833.

We've contacted four different boat upholstery business in the Greater Victoria area and none replied.

If you have great suggestions, I would greatly appreciate. We did find a great and affordable marine canvas business, but unfortunately, they do not re-upholster benches/seats.

Stefan,
We had our reupholstery project done by two local shop that both did autos, boats and aircraft. Great work by both!
We provided both the fabrics and bulk foams to make sure they were of high quality. The shops knew to use marine grade threads and zippers. The shops had all the old cushions to use as templates.
I’d do the same thing again. After four years everything looks great and is holding up well. And if I need to replace any foam in the future it should be easy to do myself.
PS: My current ongoing upholstery project is to replace every flat panel in the boat that is screwed in place and covered in mouse fur with white perforated vinyl like is found on the cabin ceiling. Only two panels left to do next winter. The v-berth looks so much cleaner with most of the mouse fur gone! And the vinyl cleans up super easy!

I spoke to the folks at Trotac in Victoria who advised all the shops in the area are busy like crazy and either won’t quote or if they do they are booked for a year. Rod’s Auto glass and Upholstery in Duncan was able to give me a ballpark price from pictures and they are booking into the last week in March as of last week. They responded with a price in 1 day! They came recommended to me and are reported to do good work. I was only looking to re- upholster the helm seat but decided it was a better option to just by a new replacement. Just ordered Monday so not sure how that will work out but I see on older posts that it was good option for others.

Thanks all for the comments.

Based on replies to our emails or lack thereof, we will plan to have the work completed over the next few years, just disappointed that we couldn't do it this year.

Just had full canvas job done on C26 at Clear Marine (Sidney BC), nice looking result.
They do upholstery too - everything from re-covering to complete replacement.
