Reasonable price for 2010 R29 ?

The 29 is a nicer boat. A little more comfortable sleeping arraignments. It's 2 ft wider as well as 2 ft longer. Also the head is forward on the 29. The 27 it's right in the way when you back into a slip (it blocks your view on the starboard side). I didn't see A/C or a generator. The price is the price. You can always negotiate down. Has a trailer and the dink. That's worth at least 6K?? You're at a big number whatever you do. Make sure it's what you want.
 
I think its in the ball park of what I was looking at last fall. As Pug Tug points out this boat doesn't have the generator or AC - but that might not be an issue in the PNW though it might be an issue on pricing.

I noticed that the were several R-29's available last fall and that some of them had a price drop as winter approached. If there is a new R-29 coming, maybe that will affect pricing. Our boat was close to what we wanted and had the big advantage of a dealer who would buy our C-Dory as part of the deal.
 
After a chat with the selling agent and not wanting a trailer for this R29 it appears a price from $150K to $160K might be achievable. 😉 😱
 
I would mention to the seller there is a model change which is going to drive used prices down I think you are still about 10k high .. I love my generator but I could certainly get by with a Honda and the extra space would be handy As far as air a carry on A/C for boats would do the job nicely and would also work when the boat is out of the water and the Honda would power it... Good luck .
 
I happen to live in Gig Harbor, and have gone to look at this boat in person. First, an offer of $150k with the trailer included won't insult the seller.

Here are the strikes against it in my eyes:
- No generator or solar panels
- No A/C
- No bimini or side walls, which are a must here in the PNW
- No motor for the Portland Pudgy dinghy
- No upper salon entertainment option
- Cover over the stove in the galley is missing
- Generally needs a good clean, and some reconditioning, to bring it up to my standards

That said, I do believe it's the best deal in the country currently available on a 29. All the dings against it that I've listed can be resolved with some time, money and elbow grease. So if you're willing to take on some projects and invest some more money over time then it's a great deal to get into a Ranger.

Bilge is clean so it has had some TLC (or they paid someone to clean it for sale)
It is missing $28,200 of the options found on most R29's.
Boats depreciate almost instantly from dealer new and this one has dropped significantly.
$150K would be a fair price - assuming you don't boat in hot weather or anchor out a lot.
You will have to put some money along with the purchase price to bring it up to the Concours level we other Tug owners will hold you to . :mrgreen:
 
we just visited al of the rangers except the 29 at a dealer in MD. for us, this discussion has been very useful. i did not realize that the 29 weighed close to 10k #, which would be too much weight for our current tow vehicle. so we are back toa 25 , preferably the 25sc.. as soon as we sell our nautica t321 sailboat, that is... :lol:
