Today, the “Ranger Tugs” medallion located in the center of the steering wheel of my 2012 R27 fell off. I’m planning to use expoxy to reattach it. That may make it difficult to remove in the future so before I do that, I’d like to find out if there is any reason that the medallion would need to be removed for a maintenance or repair activity related to the helm or steering wheel.

You mean this thing?
I was going to reattach with double sided tape 'cause it's soft and flexible. I figure I can find something better in another 10 years.

I used just good ole Gorilla glue. Worked.

Here’s the situation. It’s no big deal, really. Instead of epoxy, I’m going to use a light adhesive to make it easier to remove in case it’s needed in the future.

Crazy glue.
Vinegar will dissolve it later

I just had the same thing happen on our 2011 R-27. FYI, that's a slip-fit wooden plug in the center of the steering wheel. I was able to grab the little nub in the center with some pliers and pull the plug out (this also gave access to the nut that holds the wheel on). My plug was wrapped in electrical tape, presumably to snug up the fit in the wheel.

My plan is to epoxy the metal plate back onto the front of this wooden plug and then slide the plug back into the wheel. It was good enough for the last 14 years, should be good for many more.
