Today a certified Volvo Penta mechanic checked on a Volvo Penta wiring recall on my engine. I also asked that he change the two engine zincs, but he said there are only TWO as he could only find one. I throught there was one around the water intake to the engine, but he said there was only the one by the upper end of the rear of the engine.(?)
I bought from him for $65.00 a container of Volvo Penta concentrate coolant which he said should only be used after adding 50 water to it, as it was not a mix. He also recomended I buy a backup switch for the bottom of the engine fuel filter which he said is easy to damage. He advised me to be careful squeezing it when removing it as it is a necessary part of engine operation. He said it is very expensive, being over a hundred dollars. He came from two hours away, which would charge me $440.00 just for travel to and from my boat, if Volvo had not paid him for travel.
