Does anyone have a favorite flashlight they use on their boat?

One that works! I have several for different applications. LED types are brightest and better on the batteries. I have a couple of small ones placed at various spots, helm, v-berth and at table. I also have a head strap one for working in those dark places on the engine etc. We also have a small lantern type when at the table at the dock or other application. One never knows if their anchor light may go out for some reason. Always figured I could strap the LED lantern to the mast or rail. Better than nothing.

Same as knotflying, I have small led flashlights all around the boat along with a waterproof headlamp. For spotting markers after dark, I have an oustanding rechargeable handheld li-ion spotlight:

This is the same one that my USCG Aux neighbor uses and swears by.

I do not find the built in Ranger Tug spotlight to be useful.

After some research I bought the West Marine 555 Lumen waterproof spot light on sale for $60. For on board work I would recommend a headlight with a red night light. My old head light sucks so I just ordered a Black Diamond Spot headlight from Amazon. It has a red night light which I think is useful. I chose a battery powered head light vs rechargeable because I have too many gadgets that are rechargeable 😀

ditto to all.

we also carry an assosrtment of cyalume light sticks, and a flashing led safety puck.

Seems like we all have favorites. Check out thevLife Gear LED Flashlight with Glow Handle, Emergency Flasher and Storage Compartment, RED. Here's what is so cool about these lights. 4 way lighting = LED white beam, LED beam and colored emergency strobe, LED colored emergency strobe and just plain LED colored emergency constant glow. I must have 6 or seven of these. 1 red, 1 green and one clear for on the boat. If we ever loose all power we have all the required port starboard and anchor lighting for the emergency. 400 hours on 3 triple A batteries. Best part ...... I bought 5 of these on a close out for $30. You can find them on Amazon for $10 each.

If they fall in the water, they light up. :geek: No these are not the high end flashlights like the Pelican but guess what, they fly off the shelves quickly. Pun intended. LOL
