After this year's rendezvous, and if Canada is open, we are thinking of cruising from Roche Harbor to Vancouver Island to visit Buchart Gardens. Does anyone have any suggestions on which Marina to stay and the best way to get to the gardens?

The BEST way is to grab a first-come-first-serve buoy in Butchart Cove. If they're all taken Tod Inlet is an all weather anchorage just around the corner. Here's the details including references to two nearby marinas, and here's a chart.

Cheers,

Bruce

We stayed at Anglers Anchorage Marina just around the corner from the Butchart Gardens dock. Easy dinghy ride over to the Gardens dinghy dock. It’s kind of a funky marina but the restaurant at the top of the dock was pretty good. It’s not close to any grocery stores though. After the fireworks at the Gardens we were treated to an unbelievable number of white jellyfish in the waters going back to the marina.

We moored our boat in the The Marina at Brentwood Bay Resort 2 years ago. It was an easy and beautiful kayak paddle across the bay to Buchart Gardens. Brentwood Bay Resort is lovely and we've had the pleasure to stay there a couple of times. A great spot for boating!

We've done this cruise and stayed in a marina in Victoria inner harbor, which I think is absolutely lovely. I don't know how things are during COVID (might be worth checking), but pre-COVID there was a free shuttle bus from the downtown area to the gardens (you had to buy a ticket in advance).
