Hi,

I would like to know what is the best heater to use on my R25 this winter while the boat is left unattended? It's in the water at the Des Moines Marina. Is it safe for any heater to be set on low and left for a month?

Would love some advice.

Thanks,
Letty

I am in water at Anacortes. I use a twin Hornet 45 for bilge. Plug hornet into inverter 110V. Use a metal milkhouse heater in cabin (low 750W). Set around 50 deg.
Some portable heaters at low is 1100 or 1200w, that is too many watts. Use a dehumidifier and keep in sink in case of overflow. Sometime I set the Webasto at 41. Everybody is going to have different opinions. It has worked for me for 4 years.

I have used the same units for some years with success. They are easily available outside West Marine (for Canadians). I used to use the cabin heater also in the bilge but it is not approved for that location and my insurance broker alerted me about the risk. The Caframo Pali is really excellent.

Ditto on the two units that Nwdiver uses.
