Subject: Recommended place to attach boat hook on R-21EC

On our previous R-25 the Ranger Tugs attached the boat hook to starboard side of the cockpit. It was very handy in this location.

On the R-21EC we've just purchased the included boat hook is free wheeling and is not attached to anything. I've been thinking about where to attach it to so that it's visible and accessible when needed.

If other R-21EC owners decided to attach it to a permanent place, where did you place it ? Thanks. 🙂

I had the same question. An experienced boating friend showed me where he would put it. I don't have a picture, so I'll describe the location. The hook of the boat hook(the extendable kind) fits nicely and securely in the bottom curve of the handhold on either side of the cabin wall, just above the step. The handle rests on the step. It stays put, even during a choppy ride. It is easy to grab to move from one side to another ahead of time if I think I'll need it. What I really like is that I didn't have to drill any holes in my boat to find a solution.

Either side if the pilot house door works. Simply install Beckson Clips of appropriate size like this:

A side note - the Beckson clips are great for holding anything tubular...boat hooks, flashlights, etc.

Wow, very cool. I will have to try the step/hanging idea. The Beckson clips look great also. I just bought a collapsable fishing net that may work with the Beckson clips too!

Yes the Beckson clips are very handy. For fishing you can use them to hold your gaff, net, etc. Although, I just hang my gaff from the handhold on the back of the pilot house since they aren't "out" all that long - just on fishing trips.
