I’m looking for some clarification on fridge power. New to me 2022 R27 OB was off shore power for a week and now back on shore power, but the fridge is off. It works fine when the house bank is on. I could have sworn that it was on 24/7 previously but noticed that the fuse is not in the “24/7” fuse block. Is the fridge supposed stay powered 24/7? If it isn’t fused thru the “24/7” fuse block, where does it draw power from? Thanks.

Not 24/7. House switch needs to be on. They are 12v and are powered by house bank. Shore power with battery charger on will keep house bank topped off while away from boat.

Good luck with the new boat!

Some refrigerators used in RVs are dual power - automatically switching to A/C power when it’s available and running off 12 or 24 volt DC the rest of the time. In our boat size range the refrigerators are almost 100% 12 volt DC units. As DMD3 stated the refrigerator runs off the house battery bank. So you need to leave the house bank on if you want the refrigerator on all the time.
On our current and past boats we had the refrigerator running constantly during the cruising season. House bank on, everything but the refrigerator on the house bank turned off. Our 335 watt solar system more than keeps the house bank fully charged with the refrigerator running around the clock. Even like now with the boat is on its trailer parked for three plus weeks while not connected to A/C.

Everything on the boat is 12volt powered off the batteries with the following few exceptions:

Hot water heater
Port and starboard outlets
Grill outlet
Microwave.
Battery charger.
Air conditioner (if you have one)

The 24x7 fuse block powers the following:
Bilge pumps in the cockpit (2 of them)
Co detector
Propane leaks detector
Stereo memory
Webasto controller memory

Thanks for all the feedback.

On another electrical note, the GFCI outlet near the fuse blocks in "the cave" is only powered when I turn on the breaker for the electric grill. My contacts at Pocket Yacht tell me this is normal, but they weren't able to provide any rationale for why it was designed this way. Any ideas?

GFCI outlets are not ignition protected in that they can cause a spark or ignition source in the event that they trip to protect the circuit. The connection for the grill is in an area that is technically considered an engine compartment/fuel tank space, and so a GFCI must be located on the same circuit, but outside of that area.

This threw me as well. Could not figure out why the cave outlet was not working. GFCI needs to be out of engine/fuel compartment and this was the factory’s solution to get it out of the center hatch. Turns out I love having the outlet in the cave as well!

Makes perfect sense. A little weird, but it gets the job done. Thanks all.
