We have some sad news to share. One of our very favorite people, Dennis Carstensen has passed away. We first met Dennis and his wife, Darlene in 2008 at one of the early Ranger Tug Rendezvous in Bremerton, WA.

Dennis was a kind soul. He loved salmon fishing, crabbing, shrimping, and spending time on the dock, taking in all the action. Dennis was also an enthusiastic contender in the Roche Harbor Rendezvous fishing derby.

Dennis and Darlene’s first Ranger Tug was an R-25 Classic that they named “Tug of my Heart”. They enjoyed cruising Hood Canal, Puget Sound, and Southern Canadian waters in that boat, but Dennis liked to go fast. In fact, he was known to be a bit of a speed demon so, a short time later when we came out with the R-27 Classic (which was larger and FASTER), the Carstensens decided to upgrade for the added interior space as well as the added speed. They named their second Ranger Tug, an R-27 classic, “Tug of my Heart II”.

Fast forward several happy years of cruising on “Tug of my Heart II” to the day that we announced the outboard-powered R-27 in 2018. Dennis was one of the first people to call Andrew to inquire about the boat because he had heard that it would run at 40 MPH. Dennis and Darleen ended up purchasing one of the first R-27 outboard models and name it, “Tug of my Heart III”.

Below, I've attached a clip of Dennis from a testimonial he filmed with us from the cockpit of “Tug of my Heart II” at Poets Cove in 2017. The warm smile and friendly disposition that you see from Dennis in this video are the same that he shared every time we saw him.

Dennis was one of the kindest people we’ve ever met. Our thoughts and hearts are with his wife Darlene during this difficult time. We’ll miss seeing you on the dock, Dennis.
