remove generator from R31S

I have a 2014 31S with the Cummins generator. It needs to come out. The local Cummins service rep believes that the boat will have to be pulled out of the water to remove the generator. I explained to him that the motor of the stern thruster can be removed... but he is concerned about the rudder arm.

Can the generator be removed while boat still in the water?
