removing stern rails

I was told that I can remove the stern port and starboard center rail sections on my R 27 to install flush mounts for downriggers. I see on the outside bottom sections are small holes. Do I use those somehow to release the rails from their sockets?

On my R 27, I just pull up on the removable rails......a little stubborn, but if you work each end, they come up and out.

All I needed to know. I'll even give them a shot of WD 40.
