Has anyone replaced the 150 amp thruster slow blow fuses with circuit breakers? If “Y” how did that work out? Brand you chose as equivalent?

Thanks

Have not changed mine out, but replaced them once in 10 years. To me, not worth the effort or cost to switch over.

I may be wrong here but from what I've read, the slow blow fuses are preferred for an induction load like a thruster. They can draw quite a bit of amperage at times and if they go over the fuse rating are designed not to blow immediately because the load will often calm down and be below the fuse rating in which case all is good. If you go with a fast blowing breaker you may end up with a lot of nuisance tripping that wouldn't occur with the stock fuse. Curious as to why you are thinking of installing a breaker? GF

On a side note. The fuses are as GF described. Over a period of time they will develop small fractures and eventually succumb, but are not visually blown. First thing to do when thruster is not working is to test the fuse with an ohm meter.

There are breakers that are similar to slow blow fuses. (Anchor motor operates with one for example). Just hoping to benefit from someone who has already used a substitute rather than reinventing. My fuses blow infrequently but do blow and price for replacement has moved up steadily as well as inconvenient un packing of lazarette to replace. Hence the post. Thanks for asking.
