I have a 2015 R31-CB Luxury Edition boat. I ordered the replacement Carbon Monoxide detectors (2) from Ranger. Replacement was very straight forward, which I completed. The "on" light does not work and testing shows no result. Any idea how to troubleshoot this issue?

thanks,

Check the fuse(s).

Confirm there is 12V at the CO detectors. Confirm the thruster battery charged and the fuses for CO detectors are good, If all that checks out you may have bad detectors.

Not sure what type you have. I recently replaced mine (hard wired) and there was a start up sequence you had to do to initially activate the alarm.

My Fireboy Xintex is due for replacement after 10 years. Any reason not to use a home Smoke / CO alarm. Got to replace the battery every year is the only disadvantage I can see. Don't have to worry about wiring or fuses and you get the smoke detection as well. Thoughts?

Forgot to mention you might find the fuse on the 24 hour PDP (Power Distribution Panel). On my R27 is uses a 3 amp fuse. You should get a box of auto type blade fuses in a variety of amperages, they are inexpensive. Then you can just swap out the old fuse for a new one to test. Sometimes you can't easily see if the old fuse has split or blown.

I don't have a carbon monoxide fuse labelled...where would it be on the fuse box?

Check wires tied directly to your house battery perko switch. Look for in-line 3A fuses.

Relatedly is the “on” light supposed to stay on? Ours only goes on when we press test...

I can see no reason why battery operated CO monitors can’t be used as long as the batteries are change regularly. The battery operated CO monitors are reliable and have testing capability. As long as the monitors are kept clean and dry they should be as good as the hard wired ones.
