Our new to us 2008 R 25 appears to have factory issued curtains for the sliding windows. These curtains do not fit very well (too long and not wide enough) and they do not do a good job of blocking out light. I want to replace them. I was think of something easy, maybe canvas that velcros around the windows, similar to what we have for the back door and the fixed back window.

What have others done? Is there a source to purchase curtains or do they have to be custom made? (I have no sewing machine!)

Thanks, Jo Ann 2008 R25 Banjo

My wife made new curtains using the original equipment for templates and I ordered new plastic clips through Andrew c. The new ones are a lighter print and look good.

Sailrite is a great source for marine fabrics, fasteners, and assorted cool stuff for boats. We've been pleased by their selection and service.

Cheers,

Bruce

My wife sewed vertical tan "accent strips" to each end of the existing curtains, both fore and aft. They're about three inches wide, so the curtain is lengthened about six inches. We ordered extra plastic clips on the internet, but Ranger Tugs would likely be easier.

Along with the interior curtains on our R21-EC, we also received exterior canvas for all the windows. Have you checked your canvas to see if you may already have some exterior curtains?

Proffers, we have only owned our R 25 less than a month. I have searched it over pretty closely and do not see any canvas covers for the side sliding glass windows so I guess the R 25 did not come with them. Too bad. We do have canvas for the other windows but not the sliders. But thanks for the suggestion.

All of you guys are lucky to have wives that can sew, I can barely sew on a button! Husband Jim can't sew either. So I guess if I can't find some ready made, I will have to get a quote from the local canvas shop. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Sewing is actually pretty easy. My wife showed me how to thread the machine and adjust the tension. Other than that, I taught myself to sew.

You can pick up a used sewing machine, take a couple of classes at your local Joann Fabrics, and pick up a book on sewing canvas at West Marine, or you can go to http://www.sailrite.com/ and get everything you will need. Your local Joann Fabrics may have some marine canvas, but it won't be as good as what is stocked at Sailrite.

So are there any Tugnutters that can make canvas covers for my R 25 windows for a reasonable price? Maybe someone who has already done it for their boat and has the template?
