My Fall-Winter 2020-21 project is to remove the mouse fur in my R25 and replace it with stretch dotted vinyl very similar to what the factory installed on the overhead panels. I am looking for tips for preparing the bulkhead surfaces and which is the best spray adhesive to use. I am hoping there are tugnuts who have taken on the project.

I did an extensive remodel last year that included removing all monkey fur (http://www.tugnuts.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=14174. I decided to replace it with cedar planks instead of vinyl, with insulation behind it, which has made heating and cooling the boat much more efficient.

The monkey fur came down pretty easily, and there was not much to do to prepare the underlying surfaces, except some minor scraping and wiping them down with acetone to clean them.

3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive is the best, but 74 works as well. I tried others, but they didn't work well.

Sailrite provides quality foam-backed (good at hiding imperfections) vinyl selections at a decent price. They also provide a very good vinyl adhesive, HH-66 Vinyl cement. It's excellent and I used this at the edges that had a tendency to pull loose and are hard to glue easily with a spray adhesive.

I re-did the overhead, cave, and head in foam-backed vinyl. They came out great. I would encourage you to cut out pieces larger than you expect you'll need. It's easier to cut down than to try to pull down and replace or come up with some sort of patching scheme.

I started the project in February and completed it mid-June (along with some other projects as well). It is a lot of work but the results are worth it. Replacing with just vinyl should take less time.

Following for my C24. Doke's retro with the wood looks AMAZING but way out of my skill level. The vinyl seems like a good compromise.
