Replacing the cabin door cover teak and holly insert R27 Classic

The teak and holly wooden panel on the underside of the cabin door cover is in rough shape. I would like to replace it or fabricated a new piece to place over the old one. Have any of you made such a modification? We have an R27 Classic but this would also apply to R25's and R25SC models.
 
Many folks have spent a lot of time refinishing those panels.
I’m leaning towards white Starboard sheet when it’s time to re-do mine. Not sure if 3/16” or 1/4” is the optimal thickness for the Starboard. You need some flex and not too much weight but you need rigidity as well.
Perhaps someone who has gone the Starboard route can chime in…
