Does anyone have any info regarding replacing the fridge? Piece of cake? Easy ? Full of problems?
We seem to have something staining our teak/holly floor in the main cabin, and the stain appears to be coming from under the fridge. Will it fit thru the aft door to the cockpit?? We have Ranger Tug 25, "Encore".

Following. I was wondering about putting a nicer vitrifrigo fridge in my C30 galley but the current novokool one seems to be a unique size. Unclear what I can replace it with.

I have a 2008 25 classic and have researched this site for replacing the fridge. what I found was the fridge will fit through the door but you also have to remove the door frame. Never tried because my fridge is still working.

Do you mean removing the fridge door or the main door?

You should remove the fridge door.

I've done this. You do have to take the door frame out. It's easy. When you pull out the fridge, if you have the 110V/12V model like I do, it's just a couple of screws and it slides out. There are rails on the floor. I think I took the fridge door off as well to help when moving it. It's plugged into an outlet behind the fridge and wired directly for 12 V DC. Both easy to address. I found I needed to buy the same fridge as a replacement, because all of the fridges in that cubic foot range had different sizes and wouldn't fit properly without changing the size of the opening in some way. It was pretty easy to do if you are handy. Space availability makes it a bit clumsy. Since I replaced like for like it was harder to find and a bit more expensive.

As far as the stain, the holly & teak flooring was not well sealed by the factory and absorbs water, causing the staining. Perhaps the fridge defrosted at some point? Even if you wipe it up quickly or even spill water from the sink area you could get something similar. Is the refrigerator working fine? There is really nothing that would leak from it, unless your door seal wasn't tight, causing the fridge to defrost. I think it would be easier to check and replace the door seal. It could also be the water pipes for the sink leaking. I think that is more likely. Either way, I would pull the fridge and take a look. I don't believe it is the fridge causing this, unless there is a door seal issue like I mentioned earlier.

Mine is a norcold de-490. I have troubleshooting and parts manuals. There is no reference in the troubleshooting section to leaking water.

Before going for a new refrigerator you may want to investigate why the floor is staining. One common issue is that water around the sink drips down the side between the fiddles and down to the floor and then under the sole and it eventually discolors and deteriorates. I had to remove my sole and then I replaced it with vinyl. If it is still good refinish it and seal around all the edges with a good caulk. As mentioned before it could also be water from defrost that got under the sole.

Sorry to highjack the thread. On taking the frig out on a 2008 r25 classic. I’ve taken the two screws out that hold down the track. The track is free. I can move the front of the frig up and down. Somehow it’s being held in the back. I’ve shaken it pretty violently it want come out. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Unscrew the captain seat hinge from the counter top. Mine had a long screw in the aft hinge that screwed slightly into the side of the fridge.

Thanks Doke01 I’ll try that tomorrow. The frig works great. Only pulling it out to clean under it and see if there’s a hole behind so I can look at the wires.

I know this is a two year old thread…my 2008 norcold de490 in my 2008 R25 is tripping the dc breaker and non functional on AC all of a sudden. Understanding the fridge may be plugged into a GFCI outlet behind the fridge in the cabinet? I’m going to try the helm seat screw removal today and see if that helps. The fridge seems to be loose on the (right) aft side but doesn’t want to budge on the helm (left) side for sliding out. Where are the screws to loosen the rails? I see them but don’t see screws holding them down?

Unless you have a different refrigerator than other FM boats, all the Norcold refrigerators were 12V DC ONLY units. They are not the type that automatically switch between A/C and DC. You can call Norcold CS directly with your model and SN to confirm. I found them to be very helpful when we had a problem with the Norcold in our 2009 R-25 Classic a few years back. From my notes: 800-543-1219. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I’ll give norcold a call today as well. The model number DE490 is suppose to be for “dual electric” meaning ac/dc and I have a fridge breaker on both my AC and DC panels. Joys of a 15 year old boat.

ok. Are you confident FM wired it for both DC and A/C?

No. Not confident of actual configuration. Right now I’m just trying to figure out how to actually get it out of the cabinet hole. Thing does not want to budge but I can’t find whats preventing it from “sliding out” like others have mentioned. I Found some guidance showing a possible 10amp blade fuse for the dc portion but again that Located on the rear of the fridge. I don’t want to break anything trying to get it out.
