I would like to put a Rocna 15 on Salish Rover. Are there any modifications that need to be made to the roller prior to installation? Thanks

I put a 34 lb Rocna on my R-27. The only modification was squeezing the front bale in a vice to elongate it so the shank passed through freely. I also had to extend the launch bracket to the next holes to get the distance a little further out since the shank was longer as well. Did you buy the anchor yet? The Munson anchors seem identical and they are less expensive. Had I seen them before I bought my Rocna I would have probably bought one, I really can't see the difference between them other than the Munson has a slot in the shank.

Craig,
We put at 15KG Rocna on Karma. There were no modifications needed. It holds like a dream!

Hi David,

Do you have any problem when retrieving the larger Rocna? It seemed to me that there was no way to avoid the tip of the anchor from smacking into the bow - I thought the anchor roller was just a tad too short.....

Mac

So far we have not had that issue. Normally, I will retrieve the anchor from the deck. Doing so, allows me to be able to watch it break the surface thus controlling it coming into the roller. I set it from the helm.

Craig,
On the Nellie Too we extended the anchor davit, I think, about two inches forward by redrilling the holes that mount it but I still watch the anchor when hauling it up. This has worked for us.

Thanks to all !!! Seems that the Rocna 15 style is the way to go without much modification at all.

Best Regards

Just a thought about size. I consulted a number of resources about anchor size/weight vs boat length and weight. All sources suggest the heavier anchor. Capt. Mac also recommended the 34 lb anchor. Often there is seaweed or some big hurken starfish when bringing up the anchor so I am typically at the pulpit to shake loose whatever comes up. Hope that helps.

Yes, I have managed to bring up one or two starfish with my Rocna. It seems to be a good "fishing hook".....

Along with our 15KG Rocna, we back that up behind a 100' of chain and 250' of line.
