I’m looking into switching the stock 10kg/22lb anchor on my 2022 RT31CB for a Rocna anchor and curious if anybody has experience doing this? I’d like to go up to a 15kg/33lb but that might be too big and I may have to stick with the 12kg version.

Anybody done a Rocna switch?

I have the Rocna 10 kg on our C-28. It’s ok and has worked fine but I would have liked a bit bigger anchor - perhaps 12 kg. But the 12 kg Vulcan just doesn’t fit. I have a Mantus M1 at 11.4 kg as my emergency back up anchor.
For a R-31 CB (if it were me) I’d want the Rocna 15 kg or, at a minimum, the 11.4 kg M1. You may need a bigger bow roller. I did and went with a Kingston KR-1015 that is specifically designed for use with Rocna anchors.

You want the Rocna 15 for the R31. It is the one I have on my R31S

I did not need to modify the bow roller; even the original retaining clip at the front works with the anchor. However, I still have an extra clip I tie off to the cleat to relieve pressure on the windlass.

Here is a picture of it installed https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B145KMDhOpVASR

That is helpful. Thanks

I put the 15 on my '21 R31. Put on a Mantus anchor guard to keep the fluke off the rubber "bumper". Needed a longer roller bolt to accommodatethe Mantus guard and a new roller because I sent the original swimming. The bail is a little snug, but the system works great!

The fluke can rub against the large rubber/plastic on the bow, depending on the sea state, without the Mantus roller. Mine is marked up a bit, but that's its job 😀

Looking at them again, I might consider them because the angle of my Rocna now is so perfectly balanced that a little puddle of water sits and doesn't drain off.

For those that have a Rocna 15, do you know which model that you have? There are a couple, available

1). Rocna Mk II
2). Rocna Original
3). Vulcan

Thanks in advance
Erik

I believe mine is the original

I replaced the factory installed anchor on our R31-CB with a Rochna 15 with 100 ft of chain and 200 ft of line rode without having to make any changes otherwise. It has worked great with incredible holding. Sometimes the only minor issue is getting it unstuck as it sets so well.
