I can't speak to a 2012 R29, but my 2019 R27 sports rack is 1" od... I've installed (2) Yakima bar-mounted storage items. The cargo basket cinched down tight, but my kayak JayLow rack clamps were too big for those bars. A simple fix was silicone self-fusing tape wrap. Worked like a charm!

Our 2009 R-25 Classic also uses 1” OD tubing. The Yakima Rocket Box mounts fit perfectly. On our solar panel the Yakima SNAR Mighty Mounts I used were a tad loose so I used Gorilla self-fusing silicon tape to make a tight fit.
