What is the mast-up bridge clearance?

Thank you!

Hi there,

You would have to check that for yourself, as we can't tell you with certainty based on how the boat is loaded out. But it's easy to do. With a helper, use a tape measure and measure down to the water line, while the helper observes. That'll also give you the peace of mind that the measurement is correct.

Cheers,

Ralf

Thanks Ralf

I guess boat load doesn’t effect bridge clearance with the mast down as it’s published to be 8’ 6”. Remarkable.

Bridge clearance over the road (tailoring) or on the water?
Boat load usually doesn't effect height when on the trailer!

Are you talking about air draft?

Bridge clearance (BC) is the distance from a boat's waterline to the highest point on the topsides. It indicates the height of a bridge under which a boat can pass. Bridge clearance is listed on marine charts, with the height above mean high water given.

Personally, I trust my own measurements on my own boat MUCH more than any Fluid Motion published figure. Don’t even get me started about the accuracy of Fluid Motion’s published “dry weights” for their boats - they must calculate those under the influence of magic mushrooms!
I’ve checked the trailering height on my R-25 and my C-28 with mast up and mast down on the trailer. Also measured air draft mast up and mast down on both boats. Takes 2 minutes for each measurement. I imagine getting bridge clearance or air draft (same thing imho) for your boat wouldn’t take more than 2 minutes to measure as well.
Do it yourself then you will know who to blame if you measured it wrong!

Thanks fellas! Brilliant insights all.
