Have a 2017 RT29, there is an upper bilge area, above the engine compartment, where the Generator, thruster , transducer are stored . I have a few inches of water, how is that suppose to drain?

Thanks
Joe

There should be weep holes from there into the main engine bilge. On my 2012 R29, the weep holes are about 2 inches above the bottom of that aft bilge, so some water always stays there. I've been considering laying a rubber mat to raise the level even with the weep holes.

Thanks, will check that out.

There will always be some water under the bilge pump because the pump cannot extract all of the water. However, a "few inches" in the immediate area of the pump means something isn't right.

Having said that, I'm unsure what you mean by "upper bilge area...". Presumably this area is not the area underneath the prop shaft and the stuffing box, right ?

As Brad has mentioned, there are weep holes in various places that are designed to route water collections in areas where there's no pump for extracting it. These weep holes, if not blocked, should route any of the water collections down to the lower bilge pump for extraction to the outside.

If you pull the access panel to the generator, this is the upper area I refer to.
