How long can you run a Yanmar 4BY-180 engine on the trailer?
Do you need to hook up a water supply? If so, where and how?

Remove the cover on the sea strainer and put a hose in the sea strainer outlet for the engine. Turn the water on and you should be good to go. As long as there is good water flow I don’t think there is a time limit. Remove the bilge drain plug so excess water isn’t in the bilge causing the pump to come on.
The seacock also needs to be closed to keep water in the sea strainer.

I wonder if the sea strainer lid is a common swimming pool supply item, be nice to put a garden hose coupling on a spare strainer lid.

Get you a 5 gallon bucket and water hose kit from a hardware store. Install a male T connector in the raw water line. Cut a section of hose about 10-12 feet long and attach female fittings on both ends. Attach one end of the hose to the bucket and the other end of the hose to the T. Fill with water from your faucet and keep the hose in the bucket running enough to replace what’s being discharged. Run the engine as much as you want as long as the bucket keeps water in it. This method is much safer than using the water pressure from a faucet.

I've done it with the hose stuck in the top of the strainer with the lid off. Clamp the hose in place so it doesn't jump out. As mentioned, close the seacock and open the bilge plug. Keep an eye on your exhaust; on the trailer it's easy to see how much water is flowing through. Watch your engine temp gauge and keep your impeller wet and your good.
