Keep in mind that anyone on board to burgle who finds a safe will be more likely to wait for your return so you can open it for him. That can be very unpleasant.
As SlackwaterJack says, a good concealment is probably a better option. And something considered "Icky" is always the best. In a home a false sewage cleanout is a beaut!
Just travel only in The Bahamas and you won't need to worry about your stuff (except in crowded anchorages :?)
