Has anyone installed satellite TV on their tug and if so, do you have pictures of how you mounted the gyro antenna?

Thanks.

You might talk to the factory. They have one on the Cutwater which, I think, they were going modify it to make available for the Rangers. A funny story: I asked Ranger if they would get me a price on the Satellite TV Reciever and the price came in at about twenty nine fifty ($2950.00), they thought it was $29.50 so they ordered one. It was a when the bill came at $2950.00 they realized their mistake. They were able to return it for a full credit. Nita and I are thinking of getting one and I will be asking the factory if the Antenna is available.

The factory installed the Dishnetwork HD dish on our 2012 R-29. Howard had the mast modified to raise the dish up higher to avoid the spreader obstructions. The receiver was mounted in the forward berth under the TV. They did a fantastic job and the picture quality/reliability is second to none. I will add images that Howard took to my album

Does the Dish service include Internet access?

My dream accessory is an affordable satellite dish that provides both 24/7 broadcast and Internet access.

Johnnie,
The systems I've seen are two separate ones, one for communications (cel phones) and one for TV reception. Maybe someone has more up to date information, the technology changes daily.

The satellite dishes I've seen that are capable of internet access are larger than the standard 18" (or smaller), and the data download is relatively slow and limited. With our RV, we use a VuQube for satellite TV and a Droid Bionic cell phone as a wireless hotspot for internet connectivity. On the boat, we haven't used the VuQube, since it is not the "in motion" type.

Here's a few links for marine satellite set-ups...

We used a View Cube, Just set it on the front deck. It seeks its own level. A remote for elevation and azimuth. The new one is completely automatic. I guess they sell for around $400. Very light and well made. Had a nylon strap to tie it to the cleat to hold it in place. Use it with camper as well. Set it down and go inside, watch tv 😀

It was in their pricing plan but I did not get that service. Not sure what the bandwidth was either.

We find our boat time to be a great time to be away from the idiot box. We spend too much time watching it at home. Last year in the PNW we only watched one movie in the whole four months. But I read about 25 books all after dark. Reception being lousy for over the air channels helped.
