SC 25 Battery Question

I've had the boat at a mooring and went on a short trip yesterday (30 minute travel time, slow speed, low RPM's)

Hooked up to a mooring for 5-6 hours and maybe had the refrigerator going for about 3 hours.

Went to start the boat and nothing....had to get towed. The battery bank read about 12.5 volts. I have a memory that the batteries should be 14 volts??

At first I thought it was a problem with the Volvo fob system but now I suspect it was just a "dead" battery?

Any thoughts?

At rest with no charger on or engine running the batteries should read Approx 12.6 V. Your engine cranking battery should be isolated from the house battery so being at anchorage and consuming battery amperage should only be from the house circuit and not the engine. There is a parallel battery switch that should be turned off unless you need it for a cross over to another circuit. Make sure this is off at all times to isolate your cranking battery from the house. With engine running your batteries should show just above 14.2V or with battery charger. If you had 12.6V cranking battery voltage your engine should have started. Make sure all connections are tight at battery terminals and at starter. When checking and tightening starter terminal make sure battery with is off.
