Sea strainer gasket?

Is there supposed to be a gasket or O ring on the C28 with the Volvo engine? There's not on mine. It's just a plastic lid.

I am posting a picture of the sea strainer in my C26. If this is the the strainer you are referring to the gasket is installed on top of the housing. Here is a picture and a description of the strainer. If this is the stainer used in your C28 the parts can be purchased at Marine Hardware, Or call Richard at Ranger Parts department.
