Hello all. My wife and I are proud owners of a new to us 2016 C28 LE (for about the last month).

I've been working on correcting minor issues but we've already taken a week long trip to the south Sound.

Saw something that looked odd on the starboard side through hulls and strainers. The head water supply comes straight from the through hull seacock without a strainer while the AC supply goes through two strainers in series.

Is this correct or did someone make a Monday morning goof and plumb things incorrectly? Not having a strainer on the head is going to make it a bit harder to winterize.

I have a 2013 C-28. On my boat there is one dedicated strainer (and seacock) for the AC. One dedicated strainer for the genny. Both on port side.

On the starboard side there is a larger multi-port strainer for the engine cooling system with take offs for the toilet and raw water washdown.

If you have traced the lines and confirmed the run, this doesn't sound right to me. Not having a strainer, and not have a sea cock for a thru hull to the toilet, sounds like an issue to me.

Thanks Martin, there is a seacock on the head through hull ( I should have been a little more descriptive in my question).

Sounds like our boats are set up completely different. On the port side I have a large brass strainer for the engine and a small plastic one for the GENSET. On the starboard there is a large multi port strainer. One outlet feeds the wash down and the other outlet feeds a second (polishing?) strainer connected to the AC pump. The head is fed straight from a fourth seacock with no in line strainer, only a check valve.

My setup doesn't match the schematic in the owners manual at all.

I think the setup on our 2020 C28 LE is very similar/same to Rockjumper. There is something inline for the head water line, but that may just be the pump.

Hi Rockjumper,

We did have a short period where the head did not have a strainer, so your install is correct. Hope this helps clarify.

Cheers,

Ralf
