Seadeck

I have a 2022 31CB. The decking cover (Seadeck?) is coming unglued. Can I use gorilla glue to put it back down, and if not, what is recommend?

I have used Gorilla Glue's contact cement, although any brand should work. Be sure to follow prep and gluing directions carefully.

I have a 2022 R31 with the same issue, I would just as soon not have the Seadeck, where it has come off a black residue (old glue I assume) and this won't clean up.

I installed Raptor Decking & it was shrinking in the corner & coming up in less than a year. The company said it was from the sun! They wanted to charge me list price for the bad panels, would not buy from them ever again!

We just purchased a Cutwater made in the Spring of 2022, and I've wondered about the longevity of the decking material on the boat. I find it interesting that the four of you who have posted so far are from SC, WA, IL and VA. Different climates although all of them seasonal in nature. Rather than sun alone, I'm wondering if cold winter temps, which even SC and VA do see on occasion, might be another factor. If so, that may need to be considered when selecting the adhesive for the repair.

I recently removed the decking panels installed on the swim platform of my 2022 C-30. It has 3 large panels. After the 1st year one of the panels began shriveling in the corner and slowly coming up. Then I noticed the forward edges of the other 2 panels were beginning to come up. When I lightly pulled on the corner the entire panel kept loosening so I just kept pulling and the entire panel came up. I then followed the same process with the other 2 panels, with the same easy results. I never had to tug at a panel, it just came up and without any tearing. We had never wanted the decking material on the swim platform anyway so I was happy to be able to remove it so easily. I had read a lot about removing the material and the remaining adhesive, so I was ready for the work ahead. I was surprised by the apparent lack of adhesive and the general ease in cleaning it off the platform. This is not to say there hasn’t been a lot of scrubbing, there certainly has, and use of Starbrite NonSkid Deck Cleaner, and Mineral Spirits. I love the clean look and am very happy to have the material off. I still have it in the cockpit and that area is doing fine.

Might be slightly off topic with this, but we have a brand-new 31CB that has a small tear in the Seadeck in the cockpit. I’m considering using clear Gorilla Glue to stop any growth in the tear…thoughts?

Two pieces of Seadeck on my swim platform washed away, the others peeled up at the corners so I removed them easily. Now the remainder of the Seadeck is coming off a corner at a time. I am done with the Seadeck. I have been told by a local installer it takes good prep and care to properly install the Seadeck and it appears on my boat that was not the case.

A friend of mine contacted 3m (supposedly the manufacturer of the glue) and gave him detailed instructions I'll ask him for these instructions and post back.

I WOULD NOT super glue it in place as the Seadeck will wear out and you will have a devil of a time removing it.
