I have a 2013 R21 with only 40 hrs. Love it. However, is anyone experiencing the vinyl on the cabin seats flaking away? Can’t figure out what is causing it . I really treat the boat carefully.Thanks

Most likely due to sun damage! You might want to take to your local upholstery shop and have redone, I'm not that genital with my boat and use it for a fishing boat so it gets plenty of use but have not experienced the problem that your having. Bob

The older boats were outfitted with seats that had poor quality vinyl. Lots of older posts about this. We purchased a lightly used 2011 R29 in late 2018 and had to replace entire interior upholstery within 2 years.

Back in 2016 the factory sent out warranty replacement new seat covers that you could install yourself. They were the really nice new design. I believe that warranty program is over, but I suppose you can contact them.

I have a 2012 R27 experiencing the same thing. I had a seat covering guy check it out and he said that while that material (a sort of faux leather) is quite plush and soft when new, it does not have the durability of a classic boat vinyl. They will continue to flake especially where the most wear occurs typically on the front and side edges of the seats. The flaking is really bad and has the potential to clog things should it get into the bilge or weep holes leading to the bilge, not to mention gunking up the top of the refrigerator. I chalked it up to a lost cause and will bite the bullet and have all the seating redone in a high quality vinyl. GF

We have the same issue with our 2013 R25sc. Seats are flaking and wearing down to the threads on leading edges and high wear areas. We will need to have them re-upholstered very soon.
Does anyone have experience (good or bad) to share on a marine upholstery business on Vancouver Island (preferably Central)?

Guess I’ll get them upholstered over the winter. Does anyone know how to remove the back cushion on the seat over the stove ? No screws in sight . I inherited her from my Father-in-law about three years ago when he passed. I am thinking about selling in the spring and getting something with more power to enjoy New York Sound . I live right at the inlet. Would this be a good site to advertise it ?
