On our new R27, changing the bedding the other day, we noticed a small hatch-door beneath and aft of the forward-most V berth cushion. Any clues what is inside that? Cannot get a good look from the tight angle.
Thanks.

We have a different model boat (R-31) but on ours, that is where you get access to the bow thruster.

I am confirming that is your access hatch to the bow thruster for servicing.

Yes, bow thruster access hatch. This space (above the hatch) can also be used to store the cockpit table and bow-deck table. It's a tight fit, but they will stow there.

Barry,

If your bow table pedestal was an extension type like your dinette table pedestal (like 2019), they have changed that pedestal to be like the cockpit table fixed-mount pedestal. Bow table has a ledge it fits into to support bow cushions as a berth.

Bob: I was mistaken about my mention of "bow table" which I thought could be installed in front of the bow deck lounge seat. This table is not included with the R27/OB. When I owned the R27/OB I stowed just the cockpit table above the bow's thruster hatch.

...and yes, the extension type table in my R27/OB's V-berth was a special and a unique feature which I was adamant about to have as part of my purchase agreement. This unique table was essentially not removable and was rock solid when raised to serve as a table.
