After a LONG winter of not having had Little Tug in the water, it was time to journey to Apalachicola to have Wefings Marine perform a little maintenance and a mod to my trailer. Accompanying me was Ken the master craftsman who performed all of the cabinetry and other mods on our R-27.

The weather was perfect for our three hour drive. Our timing was great as Carolines on the Historic Waterfront was still serving breakfast. What a treat. Then Time to stroll back to the launch and begin our shakedown. Launch was perfect and "Little Tug Boots " performed her mandatory 180 degree turns in the marina to the smiles of the locals. Then up the Apalachicola to begin our system tests and launch the "SECRET WEAPON"

The weapon is Wyatt, Ken's six year old little boy who has been on our boat for almost 2 years helping with all of the modifications but NEVER cruising. Almost immediately like a well run computer program the weapon began its performance. Is this as fast as it will go, every door and cabinet door that he could reach was tested repeatedly, all faucets work fine and oh THE TOILET that he could push a button and flush the head was more than adequately tested.

I had a complete refresher course in all of my electronics with him sitting in my lap wanting to push every button everywhere. THE HORN - it works.

Oh when we cruised past Carolines , the restaurant that had prepared our SECRET WEAPON with his breakfast and the coolest Hot Cocoa he had ever seen, and he waved at the people... there was a smile to remember on his face.
Alas, our cruise was over and Little Tug Boots was left in the yard at Wefings alongside a fleet of Tugs waiting for their new Captains to assume command, christen them, start cruising and filling up those wonderful volumes of memories

So after a long time of not being on the boat our first Spring Cruise was one to remember.

What a great experience for a 6 year old. After two years of fun on the dry-docked boat, I am sure this was the ultimate finale. (Probably was not too bad for the Captain either.)

There is still a big smile on my face.

Oh, Wyatt is already planning a trip for his two sisters and his MOM.

His Dad and hope we will be invited.
