We're planning a trip and I've been warned that certain places where we will dock have outbreaks of pilferage - namely the contents of cockpit lockers are stolen. I love the lockers on my R 31 - easy to use and they even have drains! On the other hand I can't figure out how to lock them while away from the boat. Perhaps a long cable lock running from one side to the other but there may be a more elegant solution. Anyone?

Best.

Shucks, I have been hoping someone has a suggestion for this. Perhaps no one has had anything stolen? Do other boats also have unsecured hatches?

Search for "Cam Latches and Locks" there are several that could be easily adapted to secure the lockers. Something to consider when selecting the lock would be that it will be exposed to rain, seawater, and grit from foot traffic. Best to base selection on ruggedness over high security.
